Mass. Politicians Step Out for AIDS Walk

On June 2, 10,000 individuals participated in Boston’s 28th annual AIDS walk and 5K run to raise funds to fight HIV/AIDS. They raised more than $600,000 for AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, New England’s largest and oldest AIDS organization.

The fundraiser drew supporters of all ages and walks of life. Although Mayor Menino was unable to attend this year, other leaders were on hand to speak out in support of AIDS Action, including US Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-Mass.) of the Fourth District and Mass. Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez of the 15th Congressional District. Both spoke at the opening ceremonies, rallying the crowd with words of encouragement and promising to continue working to end HIV/AIDS.

The Friends of AIDS Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for HIV positive individuals and empowering people to make healthy choices to prevent the spread of the HIV virus. To learn more about The Friends of AIDS Foundation, please visit: http://www.friendsofaids.org.
