The Clayton County, Georgia Board of
Health will commemorate June 27’s National HIV Testing Day with four days of
free HIV testing for county residents older than the age of 13. Individuals
will receive results in 20 minutes and will be able to obtain information and
support from health educators after their testing.
The board will administer tests June
24–26 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and June 27 from 12 noon to 7:00 p.m. at its
offices, located at 1117 Battle Creek Road, Jonesboro, Ga.
National HIV Testing Day was
established in 1995 to emphasize the reasons why individuals should be tested
for HIV and to encourage testing. CDC estimates that nearly 1.2 million
Americans are HIV-positive and nearly one in five of those infected are unaware
they have the virus.
The Friends of AIDS Foundation is
dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for HIV positive individuals and
empowering people to make healthy choices to prevent the spread of the HIV
virus.
