AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF),
the largest nonprofit AIDS healthcare provider in the United States, opened a
wellness center on June 20, in Dallas, Texas. The facility will provide free
confidential screenings for STDs, including HIV testing.
According to the 2011 report from
the Texas Department of State Health’s HIV and STD Program, Dallas had the
second-highest rate of new STD cases after Houston, with 10,989 chlamydia
cases, 3,546 new gonorrhea cases, and 1,021 new syphilis cases.
The new facility is located inside
AHF’s Dallas Healthcare Center site in the Medical City Hospital complex. Hours
of operation are Mondays 3:00–7:00 p.m. and Thursdays 3:00–6:00 p.m. Walk-ins
