Cash to Persuade Young Men to Get Circumcised in Kenya

Kenyan boda boda (or bicycle taxi) operators in the Nyanza province may be provided with cash incentives to get circumcised, AllAfrica.com reports.

The country’s National Male Circumcision Task Force, which focuses on promoting circumcision as a way of reducing HIV transmission, has found that many young men who resist circumcision are concerned with loss of income from missing work after the procedure.

The new program will target a group of boda boda operators to see if providing a stipend for the length of the recovery will encourage more men to get circumcised.
