Five Alabama AIDS groups will share $1.4 million in grants from AIDS United’s Southern Regional Expansion of Access and Capacity to Address HIV/AIDS, or REACH, initiative.
The funding, issued in response to reports showing the South has the nation’s highest HIV death rates, will support a range of efforts, including outreach to Hispanics and improving housing options for those living with the virus.
The grantees are the Birmingham-based AIDS Alabama, Birmingham AIDS Outreach, Collaborative Solutions and the Southern AIDS Coalition, and Legal Services Alabama Inc., which is based in Montgomery.
The Friends of AIDS Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for HIV positive individuals and empowering people to make healthy choices to prevent the spread of the HIV virus. To learn more about The Friends of AIDS Foundation, please visit: http://www.friendsofaids.org.
