The Pittsburgh City Council voted Tuesday to establish an
HIV/AIDS task force. The Pittsburgh HIV/AIDS Commission will work to raise
awareness of the disease, which no longer receives as much publicity as it has
in the past.
The legislation creating the panel was introduced by Council
member Corey O’Connor; he said the city and Allegheny County should work to
coordinate education and treatment efforts, as well as to involve the business
and academic communities in policy discussions.
The Friends of AIDS Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the
quality of life for HIV positive individuals and empowering people to make
