Chicago HIV/AIDS Activist Fernando Biasco Dies

Fernando Blasco, 52, a longtime Chicago-based HIV/AIDS activist, was killed on December 23 by a car crash that resulted from a gang-related chase through the streets of the city, Windy City Times reports. The chase allegedly ended when the pursuing car crashed into the offices of CALOR, an agency that serves people with disabilities, including people living with HIV. Initial reports claim that the crash injured two pedestrians also attending a Christmas party hosted by CALOR. The police have arrested five people in connection with the incident. However, only one man has been charged with reckless homicide with a motor vehicle and two counts of aggravated reckless driving causing bodily harm.
