CDC Grants $12.5 Million for HIV Prevention in Maryland

State officials report Maryland will receive $12.5 million from CDC for HIV prevention activities this year, about $604,000 less than last year.

While the state’s HIV/AIDS caseload remains high, the award dropped because a portion of the money was allocated to additional grants for innovative projects; these will be awarded in March. Baltimore received about $3.1 million for city-specific programs this year; the city has applied for an innovation grant, as well.

CDC will offer fund recipients guidance on prioritizing programming to reduce new infections. Matching awards will be made for four additional years.
