Cyclists to Ride From Kenya to Uganda to Raise HIV Awareness

Led by Dr. Jens Van Roey, a member of the International Partnership for Microbicides, a team of riders from the United States, Europe, and Africa plan to bicycle for two weeks through the rural areas of western Kenya and eastern Uganda to bring global attention to health challenges such as the HIV burden faced by the area’s rural communities.

The trip from Kisumu to Mulanda in Uganda and back will raise awareness and educate local stakeholders about current advances in HIV prevention research. The riders also hope to establish the cycling route as a destination that will create economic and social development opportunities for the communities along the route.

The Friends of AIDS Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for HIV positive individuals and empowering people to make healthy choices to prevent the spread of the HIV virus. To learn more about The Friends of AIDS Foundation, please visit: http://www.friendsofaids.org.
