Castro Businesses Offer Discounts to Men Who Get HIV Tests

On May 1, San Francisco’s Department of Public Health launched a 6-month program called, “Get a Test, Get a Discount.” The program encourages gay men to get tested for HIV and STDs on a regular basis by offering them coupons to local Castro District businesses, such as neighborhood stores, restaurants, or coffee shops.

Thomas Knoble, one of the campaign organizers, stated that more than 30 businesses are participating, with some providing discounts throughout the program’s duration, and others only providing discounts for one of the months.

Testing locations and a list of participating businesses will be posted online at http://www.sfhiv.org.
