HOPWA Receives $15 Million Increase from FY2010 Level

The House Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (T-HUD) Appropriations Subcommittee just finished marking up its Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 spending bill. The HOPWA program was appropriated $350 million, a $15 million increase from FY 2010 levels and a $10 million increase from the President's FY 2011 budget request.

"We are very pleased that the House recognizes the importance of stable, affordable housing for people living with HIV/AIDS," said NAHC Executive Director Nancy Bernstine. "$15 million more in HOPWA funds means that over 3,000 households will be able to receive housing assistance."

Please note that HOPWA is listed on page 2, under Community Planning and Development. More information about funding levels for other housing programs will be released in the following days.
