Supporters hope a new state law that
took effect Thursday will lead to more HIV testing in Massachusetts.
The state was one of only two that
required patients to provide written consent for the test; under the new
policy, doctors need obtain only verbal consent.
Written consent is still required
before physicians can share a patient’s HIV test results with other health care
providers.
