On Tuesday in Washington - site of
the 19th International AIDS Conference - thousands of protesters converged on
the White House to raise issues related to health care, AIDS, and sexuality.
Many activists wore pointy green
hats with red feathers and green masks as they called for a “Robin Hood tax” on
financial institutions, which would raise money for HIV/AIDS.
Protests also have been held on the
floor of the IAC, where hundreds marched Tuesday to protest the US policy
banning those who said they were sex workers and drug users from receiving
visas to attend the meeting.
