SBNC Offering Free HIV & Hepatitis C Testing

In conjunction with the eighth annual National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on March 10, Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics (SBNC) West Side Clinic will offer free HIV/hepatitis C testing to women and girls of South Santa Barbara County on March 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 628 W. Micheltorena Street, Santa Barbara, Calif.

Participants will be offered a choice between a 20–40-minute quick test or a blood test.

The theme of this year’s awareness day, coordinated by the Office on Women’s Health in the US Department of Health and Human Services, is “Share Knowledge; Take Action.”

The nationwide observance is held to raise awareness of the ever-increasing impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls and to encourage individuals and communities to take action. According to SBNC HIV/Hepatitis C Program Director Javier Ortega, women of all ages account for approximately 24 percent of all HIV diagnoses.

For additional information concerning the testing event, contact Javier Ortega at (805) 963–1546, extension 3017, or at javier.ortega@sbclinics.com; or Dru Sturdivan at (805) 963–1546, extension 3018, or at dru.sturdivan@sbclinics.com.
