World Vision, Boston AIDS Africa, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are seeking volunteers this Saturday to assemble kits for AIDS caregivers in Africa. "This event offers people from a variety of backgrounds and religious traditions an opportunity to work together to respond to this global need," said a statement from Robert Randolph, MIT's institute chaplain. "It seems particularly fitting that we will do so after Passover and before Easter, when a message of hope is on the lips of many." The kits will include supplies such as latex gloves, washcloths, and antibacterial soap, as well as handwritten messages of encouragement. Organizers hope to assemble 4,000 kits, which will be shipped to Zambia. The event takes place April 3 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the MIT Johnson Ice Rink, 77 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge.
