ACTION ALERT - Tell Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi to Save Lives & Restore HIV/AIDS Funding
FUNDING FOR AIDS DRUG ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE GETTING SLASHED AND THE FRIENDS OF AIDS FOUNDATION IS ASKING YOU TO PLEASE TAKE ACTION!!
AIDS Drug Assistance Programs are the last resort to take care of those with no other options for treatment. Without medications, people may die. It is that simple. We need your help!
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
1. Please contact Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, and ask her to advocate for increased allocations of Federal funds for ADAPs and insist that the drug companies give back. To Contact Nancy Pelosi, please visit: http://www.speaker.gov/contact.
SAMPLE LETTER:
Dear Nancy Pelosi,
We need your help. As you know AIDS Drug Assistance Programs are in crisis across the country. Action is needed. We cannot let years of work to assure that those living with HIV and AIDS have access the medication they need be lost. Please commit to and ensure that ADAPs will have the resources that they need by advocating for a greater Federal allocation to ADAPs and ensuring that the pharmaceutical companies pay their fair share by:
1. Helping to secure at least $126 million for nation wide ADAP support.
2. Requiring that for every Federal dollar allocated, there is an additional $2 in new rebates or price decreases from the pharmaceutical industry.
3. Require enhanced patient assistance programs that will take care of those on waiting lists or not able to be placed on ADAPs in a seamless manner that is verifiable.
This is the very least we can do for our friends and fellow citizens as we await the implementation of Healthcare Reform. We know you are a champion for those living with HIV and AIDS and look forward to seeing your leadership on this issue.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
