'Men Who Cook' to Benefit HIV/AIDS Prevention Project

On August 31, the Bahamas Urban Youth Development Center (BUYDC) will sponsor its second annual “Men Who Cook Bahamas” (MWCB) culinary competition at the Club Waterloo in Nassau.

The event, which will begin at 12:00 noon, will benefit BUYDC’s Advancement for Health HIV/AIDS Prevention Project, which focuses on at-risk adolescents and young women in New Providence and Grand Bahama, and will feature dozens of men grilling and cooking to showcase their skills.

Appetizers, entrees, side dishes, and desserts will be available for judging and sampling for $20 per adult ticket and $10 per child 12 and under.

The fundraiser also will feature live music and giveaways. MWCB began in 2012 to assist with raising funds for BUYDC’s programs and to heighten awareness about the prevalence of HIV/AIDS among Bahamian youth.

The Friends of AIDS Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for HIV positive individuals and empowering people to make healthy choices to prevent the spread of the HIV virus.
