ActionAIDS is Awarded $40,000 to Fight HIV/AIDS in the Greater Philly Area

ActionAIDS, Pennsylvania’s largest HIV/AIDS service organization, recently received a $40,000 unrestricted grant from the Philadelphia Foundation. The organization will use the grant for vital services for individuals with HIV/AIDS who are not covered by government grants or contracts or other foundation or corporate grants.

According to Kevin Burns, executive director at ActionAIDS, among services supported by this grant will be the ActionAIDS “Buddy” program. The Buddy program is a volunteer service that complements the work of case managers by providing one-on-one emotional support, companionship, and some assistance with tasks of daily living.

The grant also will support ActionAIDS HIV testing and prevention services.

The Friends of AIDS Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for HIV positive individuals and empowering people to make healthy choices to prevent the spread of the HIV virus.
