37,000 Condoms Handed Out in Vale of Glamorgan to Cut Infections and Reduce Pregnancy Rates for Young People

As part of an effort to reduce sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy rates in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, the Vale Centre for Voluntary Services hosted the C-Card Project, which handed out more than 37,000 condoms between April 2009 and March 2013.

The project also offered advice on relationship and sexual health matters and targeted young people between ages 14–25. According to Rachel Connor, executive director of the Vale Centre for Voluntary Services, the Cymorth programme and the Vale Voluntary Action Scheme provided funding for the past four years.

The Vale Youth Service is now hosting the project and funding for the next four years will come from the Welsh Government Families First.
