New York State Health Department Launches AIDS Campaign

A grant from the federal government is funding the New York State Health Department's new HIV/AIDS campaign, whose theme is "You Are Not Alone."

The $1.5 million outreach, which will continue through July, is using billboards, community newspapers, radio, TV and mass transit to spread two messages: Persons who are newly diagnosed with HIV should seek treatment, and those who have stopped treatment should return to care. "It's critical for people to learn their HIV status and to stay in treatment," said Gov. David Paterson. "That gives them the best chance at maintaining their health and living a productive, full life."
