Brazil Promotes Use of Condoms During Carnival

Brazil's Health Ministry has passed out 84 million condoms during the past two months in anticipation of Carnival, which begins on Saturday, March 5, and ends on Tuesday, March 8.

Health officials are urging revelers to use condoms during the festival. Health Minister Alexandre Padilha said Friday that this year's focus will be on young women, who are "the most vulnerable" to HIV.

In a TV ad that is part of the ministry's education campaign, one young woman is shown telling two of her friends: "Carnival is almost here so make sure to carry condoms. If you don't, then don't do it."
