An HIV-positive man in Australia has won a discrimination lawsuit against a company treating him for erectile dysfunction, the Herald Sun reports.The man, whose name has not been released, sought treatment from Australian company AMI in 2008. After speaking with a nurse and doctor and paying for an eight-month program, he was given gels and injectable material to use.
Soon after learning his status, AMI discontinued the man’s treatment and cited a public health concern. Courts ruled that AMI’s refusal of services “amounted to less favorable treatment on the ground of his disability” and ordered AMI to pay $30,000 as well as issue a full refund for treatment.
